ABOUT

Violaine Motte Esq. is an attorney working as an Entrepreneur Individuel and has been called to the Paris Bar in 2009. Her main areas of expertise are commercial and corporate law, real estate law and insolvency proceedings.

She holds a master degree in European and international business law (University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne) and a master of advanced studies in comparative law (University Paris 2 Pantheon-Assas).

Violaine Motte’s clients are both French and foreign companies, established in Europe or worldwide and involved in cross-border commercial relationships with France. This context gives her the opportunity to work daily in French and English.

In parallel with her law studies, Violaine Motte studied Mandarin in Paris (National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations) and in Shanghai (East China Normal University). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Chinese and has successfully completed the oral exam in Chinese language for her admission to the French Bar School.

She is also fluent in German and has a good understanding of Spanish.

Violaine Motte works mainly on behalf of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly in the sectors of aviation, automotive, hotels, restaurants, real estate, retail.

From 2009 to 2019, Violaine Motte practiced at 3 Parisian commercial law firms and headed the litigation department of the most recent law firm she was employed at. In September 2019 she set up her own firm which opened in the 8th arrondissement of Paris near the Place de l’Europe Simone Veil.

Violaine Motte promotes the implementation of her client’s projects in counseling and supports them facing litigation issues.

Violaine Motte provides her clients with strategies tailored to their individual situations. She systematically describes the possible legal and judicial solutions that can be considered in theory, while favoring a pragmatic approach with regard to the overall economic stake of the project or the dispute.

In fact, despite her strong interest for various languages, Violaine Motte does not practice stereotyped language such as « langue de bois ». She even openly advises her clients against some strategies, whenever the cost/benefit ratio turns out to be unfavorable from the outset.

When assisting her clients in pre-litigation or litigation, Violaine Motte favors negotiation, should each party be open to it according to the adage « You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink ». In order to enable her clients to position themselves favourably in the negotiation, she would generally propose to upstream the process with an aggressive formal procedural approach.

Violaine Motte is easily reachable on her mobile phone and shows responsiveness. She supports her clients, if possible with humor, but always with conscientiousness and professionalism.

For a first contact with a new client, after a brief telephone conversation when necessary, she favors a face-to-face meeting at her office, should the context allow it.

For questions outside of her areas of expertise, Violaine Motte directs her clients to her network of French and foreign colleagues (employment law, information technology law, intellectual property, tax, criminal and public law) whom she works in partnership with.

In her spare time, Violaine Motte enjoys several activities: she has been involved in dance (ballet, contemporary, modern-jazz, tango, lindy hop), training as a dancer for several years, and has studied lyrical singing and drama. She participates in artistic projects involving professionals and amateurs.
